Arcadius, 383-408. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.44 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, circa 402-403. D N ARCADI-VS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Arcadius facing, his head turned slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield, decorated with a horseman, over his left shoulder; on breastplate, staurogram. Rev. CONCORDI-A AVGGG / COMOB Constantinopolis seated facing, head turned to right, holding scepter in her right hand and Victory on globe in her left, placing her right foot on prow. Depeyrot 45/1. RIC 39. An attractive example of this interesting issue, lustrous and perfectly centered. Minor die breaks, otherwise, virtually as struck.
